OHIO STATE BUCKEYES AT THE TOP OF THE RECYCLING HEAP!!!
While other stadiums have zero-waste programs, at 105,000 seats, Ohio State University’s Ohio Stadium is the largest venue in the country to attempt — and achieve — zero waste. In 2012, the Buckeyes successfully diverted 98.2 percent of the waste generated as a result of a single game (the season average diversion rate was 87.2 percent). Clear signage explaining recycling, prominent recycling stations, and compostable and recyclable food service packaging contributed to the program’s success. The university also hired high school students to distribute bags for recyclable articles and collect recyclables after the game.
