In November, 2003, Avon voters amended the City’s Charter to create a Landmarks Preservation Commission. The Commission established a register of Avon's landmarks in an effort to raise community awareness of Avon's history and historic resources. In addition to pursuit of increased awareness, the Landmarks Preservation Commission is part of the appeals process for the demolition of any designated Landmark. The Landmarks Preservation Commission meets at 7:00 P.M. on the 2nd Wednesday of every month in Avon City Hall, located at 36080 Chester Road.
