In partnership with University Hospitals, CVS and the Lorain County Drug Task Force, the Avon police Department has installed a drop-box for both prescription medication and hypodermic needles in the lobby of the Avon Police Department. This is a safe and convenient way to dispose of household prescription medications.
This program not only helps to protect the environment, it can deter the usage of prescription drugs by unintended parties - including young people facing peer pressure and new ways to "get high." The program strives to be proactive in enhancing public safety and saving lives.
Prescription Turn In
Annually, the Avon Police Department partners with the Lorain County Sheriff Drug Task Force to facilitate a day to turn in outdated or no longer needed medications. In 2018, several Lorain county agencies provided drop off locations. By turning in these medications, you can help our environment and keep the prescriptions out of our water supply. Above that, you can help keep prescriptions away from unintended users.
