UPDATES RELATED TO COVID-19 AS OF 6/1/2020

The City of Avon has been working with the state and county health officials regarding the evolving COVID-19 situation. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has mandated social distancing policies and closures during this time. Until new directives are released and after careful consideration for the safety of our community, the following precautionary measures are being taken:

FACILITIES

Avon Aquatic Facility – Closed for the season. If you already purchased a 2020 pool membership, please check your email for our refund options. If you did not receive this email, contact the Avon Parks & Recreation Dept. at parksinfo@cityofavon.com or 440-937-6106

Avon Isle and Avon Lions Community Center – Open with restrictions. If you have an upcoming rental, please check your email for current restrictions/agreement/waiver. If you did not receive this email, contact the Avon Parks & Recreation Dept. at parksinfo@cityofavon.com or 440-937-6106. Visit the Ohio Department of Health for the guidelines in place for Responsible RestartOhio on Restarurants, Bars, and Banquet & Catering Facilities/Services OR click on the following: Avon Isle Guidelines ; Avon Lion Community Center Guidelines

Playgrounds & Fitness Court – Closed until further notice

Pavilions – Closed until further notice

Parks – All parks are open. Please remember to maintain social distancing while enjoying the park trails. Park restrooms are now open from 7:00am-9:00pm. Water fountains are closed until further notice.

Basketball Courts – Open with restrictions. No more than 10 people are permitted on the basketball courts and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

Skate Park – Closed until further notice

Baseball, Softball & Multi-use Fields – Visit the Ohio Department of Health for the guidelines in place for Responsible RestartOhio on sports and sports leagues, click here!

PROGRAMS

Safety Town – This program has been cancelled for Summer of 2020. All refunds were issued in the manner in which you paid as of 6/1/2020 and will be processed within 2 weeks. We hope to open up the 2021 program to include those who missed out on the program this year!

Playground Days – Playground Days has been cancelled for 2020. Staff is currently finalizing details on modified summer programming, which are projected to begin June 15th (subject to change). This includes virtual classes, take-home projects, as well as alternative small group activities. Updates on new program offerings will be shared via the Avon Parks & Recreation website and our Constant Contact newsletter.

Avon Local Schools Summer Coaches’ Camp – Avon Local Schools have cancelled the following sports camps/programs: volleyball camp, Little Lady Eagles basketball camp, AHS baseball skills camp, Lady Eagles soccer camp, and Avon Eagles tennis camp. All refunds were issued in the manner in which you paid as of 6/1/2020 and will be processed within 2 weeks.

  • Bricks 4 Kidz- TBD
  • Nutty Scientists- TBD
  • Jumpstart Sports Camps- Ultimate Warrior cancelled, all other TBD
  • Performing Arts – cancelled, possible modified programming
  • Summer Spanish – cancelled, possible modified programming
  • Yoga Camps- cancelled, possible modified programming
  • Adult/Youth Tennis- cancelled, possible modified programming

Our goal with this course of action is to limit the opportunity for exposure as well as maintaining a safe, healthy place for our participants, residents, and staff. The City of Avon will continue to monitor updates and information on COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Ohio Department of Health. This could result in changes to tentative re-open dates of our facilities, programs, and activities. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation.
