Law Director

The Law Director is the chief legal representative of the City of Avon. The Director is responsible for the handling of all legal affairs of the City, both civil and criminal, including:

• Bonding
• Contract negotiations
• Review of all written instruments
• Prosecution of all misdemeanor criminal offenses

The Law Director represents elected officials, administrative officials and City employees in matters related to City business.

The Law Director drafts and reviews legislation, governmental policies and procedures and a variety of other City documents.

Legal Opinions

The Law Director does not provide legal opinions on private matters that do not involve the City of Avon or an officer, employee or agent of the City of Avon acting in their official capacity in order to avoid conflicts of interest. The Director does not represent private parties in civil or criminal matters.
